I know hope is not a good investment strategy, but I hope IGO/Tianqi/ALB are primarily sending the China market a message that they have no desire to send any incremental spodumene concentrate or Lithium Hydroxide to the market at these prices. It isn't only buyers that can wait for a better price.

The Greenbushes JV give the three a good excuse to trim back as the arm's length SC6 transfer price from the JV is based on the market price from the prior quarter, and that is apparently now above the spot price. So why would the JV produce more than its contract needs, paying income tax and royalties at last quarters prices and then selling below paper cost at spot.? Especially when the contract prices the partners sell their main volumes at are linked to, and negatively impacted by low spot prices.

Hopefully it isn't lost on the spot market that these are companies with the lowest cost rock resource on the planet (Greenbushes) saying it doesn't make sense to them to sell into the market at these prices.
