When you look at the context the word mineral was used where you took issue, it clearly was used in the sense of an economic mineral.
You were wrong in correcting it because the word was used correctly within the setting of a mining project.
you are trying to make other people look wrong by applying a narrow definition which was not the meaning the original author had intended.
