    . Not Strangely I’ve agreed with you twice today cash hound . A good example of unions having too much power would be the tunnel project in Melbourne . Labor won the election before the project commenced , promising to cancel the East - West link proposal supported by the previous liberal government . Contract cancelled at a cost of 600 million and project now 2 billion over budget and only half complete . Stop go sign holder is on $ 120, 000 a year , average wage for workers on this project $350,000 a year . Now remember people , this is tax payers money !!!!!! In my working life , I was a residential builder , imagine the outcry if we builders charged those rates on houses ! It would add maybe 40 percent to the coast of a home ! Total outcry ! Unions were supposed to help workers get a fair days pay for a fair days work . Not 4 times the average wage for a reasonable days work , enough !!!!!
