Thanks, @drummo. I used a large portion of our profits to buy the remaining LTR shares in our superfund, while the price was low and I could still afford to. My wife is still 5 years away from being able to access her half of our super, and I wasn't looking forward to having to sell LTR to fund a tax on unrealised capital gains beyond July 2025. If we don't get taken out, I think the capital gains in the later half of this decade could be considerable. So we aren't rolling in cash, but still doing okay. Yet to buy a boat or mountain bike and start living the retirement I planned. Still spending a large part of my days organising trades to fix the house, and cleaning. Helping my daughter get her driver's licence.
If LTR gets taken out in the next year or Labour loses the next election, I just gifted the government uneccessarily a lot if extra tax. At least this way, I feel more in control of our shares.
