Btw, addition to my post above;
some important points;
1) there is no Chinese gigafcatory in the US. There was only one planned which was a JV with Ford and CATL but it's stppped.
2) The EV batteries in the US will be supplied by the gigafactories of Sth Korean and Japanese companies; Samsung, LG, SKI (Koreans) and Panasonic (Japanese). Even the Japanese EV OEMs (Honda) in the US will be supplied by the Koreans.
3) While the European EV market slowed down last year, (less growth rate in comparison to 2021-2022) the growth rate of EV sales in the US accelerated to 55% in 2023.
4) The existing, developing and planned investment and capacity in battery giggafactories in the US is much bigger than Europe.
5) The US EV market will be using mainly nickel based batteries and that requires lithium hydroxide.
Also, let's not forget that most Japanese OEMs are now making HEV (hybrid EV) and PHEV (Plug-in hybris EV). There is very little pure ICE vehicle is made by the Japanese anymore.
Therefore there is more and more lithium demand from all fronts of passenger cars, utes, panelvans, buses, etc. not to mention huge demand from the other fronts like ESS (Energy storage systems), 2 and 3 wheelers, small and large sailing yachts, small and mid vessels, caravans, RVs, etc. etc. The list is too long.
It's a growing market not shrinking market.
Let's not fooled by the BS news in the media and posts here.
