yes they did short around the $3 mark. they also lost a hell of a lot of money as it went up to $3 which offsets profits

if you look at this year alone
Jan 29th short interest was 138mill share price 96c
July 1st short interest 268mill and price is $91c

that's a lot they have to purchase back without a CR coming or anymore rebalancing of asx 100/200 for 5c profit. (and yes I know there was covering and shorting during this period)
the best any of them have during that time is 50% profit (if they purchased back today) and during that peak they were covering and purchasing back at recent top not shorting more.

I have no idea of the mentality of a shorter, don't agree with the practice and think it just creates a unreal surplus of supply to destroy a share price. But at some point they will have to purchase back the huge volumes in LTR and PLS and cant see how they do this without skyrocketing the SP.
