yes naked short selling is banned here, but I understand there is some evidence that it does happen. It's not that surprising if it does, as the regulation seems so lax. Also, from what I have discovered, LTR shorting is being led by hedge funds out of Hong Kong. I do not know how bound they would be by Australian regulation. It's a black box to me and I hope that the more light that can be shed on it, then perhaps it will become less opaque and regulation will be strongly enforced at the very least. But frankly, I have little faith in regulation when the ASX is enriched by increased trading activity. One can hope.
