What we know

Peers realised prices are as much as USD420/t lower compared to reported SC6 contracted prices -these positions Ltr to achieve as much as $400m cash pa above mediocre projects

Spodumene with grades as low as 2.1% and hundreds of thousands of tonnes at 4% are selling - Yeap customers must be desperate to accept these grades. Implication: there might be an over supply of crappy grades, but not premium grades

There are spruikers showing Africa is dotted with many lithium mines, however a number of these are conceptual and some are also either wrapped in corruption or the size of their project is dust in a scale, drop in a bucket, pollen in the wind, they don’t count in the scheme of things. Same as SA, some projects there have been building since 2017 but their capacity are 2,000 tonnes, not even worth mentioning.

Apparent manipulation of spot prices have caused a number of projects to fall out or uneconomical - even pls made only $100m in the last 9 months. Just imagine guys, PLS have been pumping more than 600k tonnes spodumene for a $100m profit to electrify a million cars. Just imagine guys, a $9 billion company making less than 1/3 of the $300m that pokies in Fairfield generated. So are you saying it’s okay for a $9 billion company with 500 employees and blasting million s of tonnes of rocks to make less than 1/6 of pokies in Canterbury and Fairfield? By the way their $3.3b cash 12 months ago is now down quickly to $1.6b and are expected to spend $1.5n on their WOF, whilst the pokies are resilient

LTR will become a producer this week, end of July, it appears the WOF is yielding 6.3% and a % of recovery that will surprise many.

What we don’t know

Dunno if Ltr will produce a monthly progress report during the ramp up. If recoveries are north of 80% market should be put on notice.

A big week ahead. I’m expecting Ltr will make more money than polices in Canterbury and Fairfield.

Don’t forget the tantalum. The flowsheet was designed also to optimise tantalum recovery

It looks like the tantalum revenue is enough to pay all labour related costs, both production and admin.

Do the math

‘Tantalum pentoxide prices, having much lower price volatility, range from US$250 to $310 per kilogram dependent on the quality.’
