I realise that some of this at least has been posted about before, but the commentary from the CEO of RIO, Jakob Stausholm about lithium is worth referring to for anyone who is a long term holder, or indeed an intended LTHer of LTR. I have included the reference to the full transcript of the earnings call from the half year result (here). The transcript demonstrates the incredible depth of research and knowledge that ultra large corporations have about the global economic and industry outlooks. There was also a decent report in yesterday's AFR about his remarks. I will post an image below...

From AFR about the Stausholm briefing... He said when asked about acquisitions underlining the importance of "synergies" created by adjacent assets or shared infrastructure..."We would like to strengthen our lithium business, and we also have opportunities to grow our copper business," .... "I couldn't care less about what the lithium price is in the next twelve months, I'm more thinking about how will the market and demand be over the next decade or two, and lithium is necessary in almost any construct of a battery."

Again a quote from the AFR article now... "Mr Stausholm said he was confident in long term demand for lithium, despite prices slumping by more than 80% over the past 18months amid surging supply. "Short term it is unpredictable, but longer term it is quite predictable," he said.
