I don't think the current situation is helped by the European/American car makers - who have suddenly appreciated that China has planned and achieved a path to dominance in this area. (Musk on steroids)
Use of marketing tools such as the MG label, in the UK, is helping spread uptake and the old hands are worried. Although how anyone can associate the old MG sports car they yearned after in their youth with the new "MG" company. Even unknowns like BYD are now appearing everywhere and gaining a reasonable reputation.
All the car companies must be lobbying their governments to slow down the Chinese imports AND the switch to ICE. They will be greatly helped in this by the oil companies that are only to happy to stretch the revolution outwards. Even the governments will be worried about the dominance that is appearing.
Every year they can delay the change to EV is a year they can use to try to catch up. Oh and global warming is something they pay lip service to but..
Perhaps we should let the Chinese take over the global car market and save the world.
