@dynofish, thanks for the info.
I have the comparison chart for more lithium miners. See the charts below. I've even included the Chinese and American miners.
The first chart is from January 1st, 2025.
And the second chart is exactly 1 year chart, starting from June 15th, 2024.
As you can see on the 2nd chart LTR has done better than PLS, MIN ad Albemarle in one year, but the Chinese Ganfeng and Tianqi, even American SQM have done better than LTR.
Interestingly LTR has done by far better than all the others since the beginning of this year in 6 and half months.
I know the problems of MIN but I'm not sure what's happening with PLS. In recent days the volume was still high in PLS trades while it was too low for LTR. The shorts also increased in PLS to 13.5%. That's happening even though the mineral resources updated with higher grades. I'd always prefer LTR over PLS due to its higher ASIC cost IMO but PLS has quite a large resources now. When you consider the future lithium demand is going to be huge and supply/demand deficit is inevitable, then it's hard to understand what's going on with PLS..!
Or, we can look at the situation from another perspective; while the downside of PLS and other lithium miners is due to the negative sentiment towards the lithium sector, there must be a reason for the increased interest of some investors in LTR..
I think we have covered those reasons quite comprehensively over the recent years.
This chart below is exactly 1 year chart, starting from June 15th, 2024. This chart clearly shows that the two Chinese lithium miners were doing well in last one year period while the Australian miners were struggling at the bottom. The reason is clear. I'm not going to repeat. It's stupidity but nothing else IMO.
And, it's such a stupidity that Ganfeng gives $300m loan (2 x $150m) to MinRes to keep it still mining at loss. PLS is also still selling at cost or loss..!
And the Chinese still buys all the lithium produced in Australia...! They even give loan to keep them producing.
PS: Tianqi owns 23.7% of SQM btw.
