Fact is we will have one of the highest carbon footprints of all producers....
last post I showed how trucking will use 14m litres annually....
Lets look at carbon footprint shipping to E Coast US compare to China...
I use perth as data available, Geraldton only 226nm difference...
I use Panamax class ship, typical 50kt payload....
500kt will take 10 trips
Typical speed for Panamax 22kts, fuel consumption 60,000 US gal/day 227k litres....
Perth - China 5950nm
Perth to E Coast - Houston via Panama canal 14,667nm....

Works out to 11 days compared to 28 days....
So extra 17 days to ship to USA.....
17 days at 227k litres/day = 3.8m litres
10 trips = 38m litres of extra fuel over shipping to China!!!!!!!
This assumes Panama Canal open & ship has a back load...
This assumes all goes to E Coast, 1 third will go to Korea....
To put in perspective….
LLL DFS says their total fuel use is 6m litres pa…
think I said 6000 last post, typo it is 6m...
That’s for similar sized 500kt pa plant…
That includes mining and diesel power generation for plant…..
They also have shipping problem, Africa to China a long way....
