As an operator and maintainer, the game is the one Twiggy has played incredibly successfully. Reduce your cost per tonne for production.

I suggest for those who haven’t, have a listen to his Boyer Lectures from a couple of years back where he mentioned the flywheel concept. Trial and error, testing ideas to drop cost per tonne from >$50/tonne to $13 or wherever they got to. Iron ore, yes different, etc. but that’s not the point I am making.

Picking one line LTR item, “transport and logistics” for example, at $89/tonne of the $651/ tonne LTR estimated long term cost, there is an opportunity to electrify transport and reduce this to perhaps half or less. Maybe there are better ways?

Just one example.LTR will push hard on every O&M budget line item.

The biggest wins might be in process optimisation. The ideas might come from commissioning gurus or from operators. It doesn’t matter as long as there’s a culture of listening and learning and gunning for the wins.
