While I agree that the market has been frustrating and tough, I also believe certain stocks have performed miserably for a reason. Instead of trying to justify value and believe that company xyz should be worth this and that it pays to be flexible and get out when it breaches a certain criteria.

If it's going down it's going down for a reason get out and don't argue with it. Worst thing anybody can do in this market is fall in love with a stock. The market has no regard for anyone's opinion it is ruthless and will go were it wants to.

The safest thing for mum and dad investors is to have stringent rules in place so they don't get caught out by stock prices coming off. In order to survive in this market you need to adapt to the conditions be extremely flexible and Discipline and money management have never been more important.
