The Australian navy has intercepted a very large boat load of asylum seekers off the coast of WA.
Home Affairs Minister Brendan O'Connor said the warship HMAS Larrakia, picked up a boat carrying 118 people north of Christmas Island this morning.
More than 5500 asylum seekers have been picked up in Australian waters this year - more than any other year on record.
