Asylum door open…

I’ve just been watching the morning press conference by the NSW Premier and her sidekick Dr Chant.

A very adept journalist asked very pointed questions of Dr Chant as to why fast RATs aren’t being used.
He pointed out a paper from the NEJM that argues (as I have) that the frequency of testing carries more weight than the accuracy of the test.

Chant was completely flummoxed. All she could say was that she was “open” to considering the RATs but that, as PCR capacity was not yet fully used, PCR tests would continue to be used.
She seemed incapable of understanding what RATs can do and repeated that they had “problems with accuracy” which is utter nonsense.

Someone has opened the doors to the asylum…and the inmates are running the show.
