Average cost of keeping a normal prisoner in 1997 Was $145 per day

That would involve at least 80% of the costs you listed involved in keeping asylum seekers

Allowing for 5% per year inflation that is still only $185 per day to supply at least 80% of all those items you listed to a prisoner every day 365 days a year

Just in case you can not work it out that is $230 per day EXTRA to keep an asylum seeker at the lower cost than a prisoner in and Australian jail

But I have just realised something form memory (I may be wrong) it is also an AMERICAN company running these centres.

COULD THIS BE WHY YOU ARE SO KEEN TO DEFEND THE COSTS
