The alliance with IMB stretches back to at least 2013 with the first ARC grant for $402k. If the first year produced nothing of significance, if there were no synergies and futility best described the nature of the collaboration then the ARC grant in 2014 for $546k would appear an unlikely outcome. Fast forward to 2015 and the third ARC grant for $670k.
It would appear that the unfolding years have produced results and importantly the technological synergies portend medical breakthroughs.
Silence shouldn't be interpreted as lack of progress. Slide 35 of the April 2015 Investor Presentation points towards a commercial outcome in relation to Diagnostics (Universal Specificity). The spin-out/licensing opportunity appears to reference the collaboration with IMB, subject of the the initial ARC grant. The collaboration has just passed into its third and final year of grant funding. Of course slide 35 also points towards a commercial outcome in relation to Cyclops (macrocyclisation) which appears to reference the third ARC grant.
At the time of the investor presentation the reference to a spin-out opportunity in the macrocyclic space was shrouded in mystery. We now have a little colour. The fact that the collaboration is with the IMB following two intensive years of research in related fields is nothing short of exciting.
