At least 35 people die in Bhushan Steel's Angul Plant in 2 years

Report by Sangram Ranjan Nath, Angul: Within 2 years At least 35 peoples death held at Bhushan Steel Limited, Meramunduli Dist- Dhenkanal location. Bhushan Power & Steel Limited, a fully integrated 2.3 Million TPA Steel making Company with turnover of INR 4217 Crores (USD 937 Million) and 7 World Class ISO 9000 Certified State of the Art Plants at Chandigarh, Derabassi, Kolkata and Orissa in India.

Although it is a large scale private sector company, but they do not follow the industrial safety rule. The periphery villagers and companys contract workers alleged that it is great death bed . Because of this at least 35 persons dead in different incident when they were working in plant site. Even the foreign engineer Mr Henery from Germany was also died on 9th July 2010 due to hot liquid iron.

They also alleged that there is no records for other death persons because the company administration to keep secret the dead bodies .Many times the company covered the dead bodies under the soil. They complained that neither causality facility is available in the plant site nor they follow the industrial safety rule. Another cause is many heavy weight vehicle are running in the plant side with out trained driver and assistant. Due to lack of traffic awareness many accident are held in front of that Steel plant. Intellectual persons now alleged that neither Dhenkanal administration nor local police administration take step against this regular incident.

They have apprehension that, already 100 persons died from the beginning of the plant construction, and it will grow more in feature. The workers said that there is no water facility in plant site, no first aid facility after accident, unskill workers and dose not following the industrial safety is the main cause of the regular death.
