Looking like VIC might be copping another wave shortly. There is definitely value and demand for rapid tests in Aus, unfortunately that demand doesn't come from decision makers. Info came out new years eve about a heap of places where if ud been there you should isolate until you get a negative test. I wonder how many people had plans for new years that were suddenly in jeopardy who would have paid $20-30 to have a result in ten minutes so they could confidently go on with seeing their friends without feeling guilty about it or breaking guidelines?
New years day had a wait line in suburbs for tests of up to 4 hours. A friend of mine, who had to chabge plans to last minute isolate on new yearsIt eve has been told they'll probably be waiting a few days for results, potentially longer. I understand AUS is a small market and AT1 is only one player but that's not what it is about. It boils my piss that we are putting our people through these situations, at a time of year that is about coming together. Im open to the idea we are going to see another spike of community transition as most people would have gone through with their NYE plans. The public will get the blame again for doing the wrong thing and not bailing on their friends last minute and sitting in line for four hours to get a possibly 72 hour test turn around.
There are supports and alternatives to this... They just don't line the pockets of the those with influence.
