Just catching up on pending reading on a slow day - you might have heard of the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator from previous Global Fund + WHO and media updates. Its a global collaboration of organizations and governments working to accelerate the development, production and equitable access to new COVID-19 tests, treatments and vaccines once available.

I have posted stuff prior about FIND test reviews, Global Fund procurement lists etc - its all tied into this co-ordinated global plan.

These are the goals (note the 500m test goal as its relevant to AT1 + its partners; recent WHO ann for 120m tests is part of this pillar)

* vaccine dose goal is naturally dependent on successful trails + production and supply timelines...the timeline is not the main goal, its to set a concrete purpose to strive for (~2B doses for LMICs). If end 2020 goal is looking un-likely, it will move to ~2021 and so on..

Fund raising plan- currently 14 Oct step as G20 is underway - and they need money to keep pushing ahead..
- total costs estimated US$38 billion <gulp!>; so far, raised US$2.6 billion

Some Diagnostics Pillar points from the report:
- "..over 50 diagnostic tests are being evaluated..."; that's the FIND evals underway https://www.finddx.org/covid-19/sarscov2-eval/

- "... Diagnostic tests are of immediate importance to ensure test-and-treat strategies can be implemented, and to monitor the efficacy of other effective public health measures. As new tools are developed, testing will be critical for the roll-out of vaccination campaigns"

- "These RDTs are also paving the way for potential self-testing approaches that would be game changing for high- and low-income countries alike"

In the FIND evals list, AT1 has 'Access Bio Ab RDT' + 'NG Biotech Ab RDT' being evaluated since July'20 (both should be the AT1 Galileo devices?)

In total FIND pipeline, Access Bio actually has 6 horses listed (3x AccBio CareStart RT-PCR, Ag, Ab RDTs + 3x Wells Bio subs sold careUS Ab, careGene Covid19 RT-PCR, careGene N-CoV RT-PCR RDTs) https://www.finddx.org/covid-19/pipeline/

- what's a bit confusing, is that whilst all this is going on, AU TGA approved 'AtomoRapid (NGBio based) Ab test' has already been put on the Sept'20 Global Fund approved procurement supplier list...anyhoo..

Critical Path for Diagnostics Pillar
"... urgently working towards expanding access of existing tools in LMICs and supporting the development and deployment at scale of critical rapid tests by Q4 2020, with an emphasis on Ag RDTs. Major milestones to achieve this include product development and validation by mid-September, market preparation including regulatory approval by mid-October, training healthcare workers and strengthening laboratory services by mid-October, and rolling out tens of millions of Ag RDTs by Q4 2020.

Following initial deployment, the Diagnostics Pillar is already starting to develop the evidence base on how to use tests most effectively, expand access, continually improve test performance and lower prices."
