As you state, ATC is targeting a different market than 3Tc so if it only matches or just beats its performance. I am sure those 20% of patients who become resitant to 3TC will be very happy to be able to move to such a safe and well tolerated drug.
My understanding is that existing 2nd line therapy drugs are much more toxic which much worse side effects to ATC and dont provide the ongoing resistance
