Yet, the Government funds Christian schools that follow a book that teaches that Homosexuals are immoral, that slavery is OK, that women are inferior and that it is OK to kill non-believers. The Government funds Islamic schools that follow a book that teaches that martyrs will get 42 virgins, that it is OK to kill infidels and that apostasy is pusnishable by death. The Government funds Jewish schools that follow a book that teaches the all of the promised land, that populated by muslims and christians belongs to the Jews and that Jews are the "chosen people". We also fund Scientology schools that teach we are descended from aliens and Exclusive Brethren schools that teach even more corrupt rubbish. We have the Government paying for chaplains in school seemingly learning nothing from the rampant paedophilia in the catholic church.
We have the coalition in NSW promising to scrap ethics classes to kids have to study religion or nothing. We have religions demanding we respect them despite the fact that if we respect them all we respect the right of the Christians to kill non-believers and also for Muslims to do the same. We have religions demanding to pass laws to protect them whilst they continue to be allowed to discriminate against non-believers, homosexuals and women.
So yes, you could call me a militant atheist - when science succeeds over superstition and fear and all the above issues have been rectified, we will have a fairer and just society. No one kills in the name of atheism, unlike the millions killed in the name of Christianity, Judaism and Islam.
