If you were actually interested in finding out why, you could do some actual research into Muhammad and Islam and perhaps discover that stories and claims about who and what Muhammad was are more detailed but probably less accurate even than those about Jesus.
You might also wonder what it was about his influence and teaching that gave rise to the golden age of Islam .. one of the finest cultural flowerings in recorded modern history.
For such an unusual man, it is not possible to know what actually occurred since "history" and even tradition is rarely informed by truth and those who desire power or who wish to diminish a leader, will always spread their lies, stories and chinese whispers.
For example, the claim that Muhammad was a paedophile is spread purely to tarnish his image ... by anti Islamic phobes and based on stories presumably sourced from hadiths, themselves of questionable accuracy.
