From a human understanding of just, it does not sound fair that a law abiding atheist/non believer is doomed to hell even though they were law abiding, humane, generous, benevolent etc all their life compared to a rapist, murderer, bank robber who turns to Christ and thereby saved from eternal doom

Based on the above it is of no surprise that so many reject Christ or start a new religion to suit what they believe is fair and just.
