athens olympics spectacular .

I was as sceptical as the next seeing that the press, as always, focused on how un-prepared Athens was for the Olympics, with facilities not readied and infra-structure incomplete etc.
What a wonderful Olympics it has turned out to be. The Opening ceremony was stunning and the venues looked first class.
Yes ,crowds have been disappointing, but Athens can hold her head high and I for one would like to congratulate the greeks on a truly fabulous games.

As to those who constantly keep comparing it to past games particularly Sydney, stop it now! Sydney was the Catalyst that has inspired the Greeks and undoubtedly the Chinese to make the Olympics better than ever.
To all the press who like to find the worst in everything, please note not one reported incident of violence at the games....no thanks to pundits especially from us ozzies who were going on about having extra security for our atheletes, they should be ashamed.
The Greeks ahve truly staged a great games and their ancestors would be very proud.
