Actually it's the price that it last gapped up to AND everything above that up to the peak that "gets filled". Same for all stocks. Psychologically it's hard for punters to watch their profit disappear so the pressure to sell mounts as the gap up price approaches and often it overshoots a little as the last ones get out having hoped for a rebound. Of course this is the opposite for shorters... They fill gaps on the way up not down.
