Thanks Wang Chung,

I did hear about the win for Students being able to claim for text books, ect. The ATO sent a letter about it a few months ago stating I could claim some educational expenses.

Funny thing is I did not try claim anything extra. It must be related though as the 2008 tax year would have included the last semester of 2007.

I'm going to take the cash and run.
