I’d hate to be a trader in pearls. It’s one thing participating in a normal auction where you know what prices are being bid by your competitors, but in these sealed bid auctions you can misjudge the market and either bid way too low (business folds due to lack of stock) or way too high (business folds due to losses). ATP lost out in the last auction due to the former, hopefully they will now benefit from the latter.
