There is still a chance that the merger does not happen.
In that case you would have opened a new account and transferred shares unnecessarily. You would then (presumably) close the account after transferring the shares back to your current broker.
Sounds silly doesn’t it?!?!

hence my comment that the company should have put together a BASIC and CLEAR infographic to illustrate what actually has to be done for various choices.
It’s laughable that they (afaik) haven’t tried to help retail with this via such a simple mechanism.

They still haven’t called me, btw. Call me dammit!!!
