While we may never know which way these protests will go, the dynamics in alot these west african countries are somewhat different to the arabic north and middle east.
To quote from the following article (http://af.reuters.com/article/topNews/idAFJOE72H00X20110318), "...few expect the rally or other protests brewing across sub-Saharan Africa to gain the momentum being seen across the Middle East, they are a worry for the region's entrenched elites, some of whom are acting to firmly stamp them out."
Hopefully its just abit of noise that dies out, rather then a revolution the scale of egypt or lybia.
