Hunger in the world is not going away soon. The masses have to eat!

In case anyone missed it or overlooked it, UNICEF came out with a Report on Tuesday, May 2, saying that:

"The number of hungry people in South Asia has jumped by 100 million in the past two years..........More than 400 million people are now chronically hungry in South Asia, the region's highest level in 40 years"

"We are on the verge of a crisis," Aniruddha Bonnerjee, a consultant for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), told reporters in New Delhi after releasing the report.

The report covered Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka

To counter the dire situation developing for its people, the Indian govt. is proposing a National Food Security Act, which seeks to provide access to sufficient food to the deprived section of society by providing 25 kg of wheat or rice per month at a subsidised rate to the families living below the (Indian) poverty line(BPL).

To feed our 'HUNGRY NEIGHBOURS' requires increased and improved food production. Indian soils especially are deficient in phosphorous.

No wonder Indian Fertilizer companies have been active more recently in securing supplies of DAP & RP(IFFCO and Legend for example).

A long term view is the key with MAK. As AD has said, the schedule to production at Wonarah HAS NOT CHANGED.

There is an enormous market on our doorstep that must be supplied. The world population is increasing EVERY MINUTE, but more so in the region closest to us.

There are some who are tired of hearing and reading, but I'm going to state it again. And I'll keep stating it.

    PEOPLE HAVE TO EAT!!!

And wouldn't it be grand to see a long freight train hauling our RP from Wonarah to Darwin in the future.

Don't know it would be as long as the record-setting BHP Iron Ore train seen in this video, but certainly satisfying just the same.

And perhaps, as Browny says "Maybe it's the rail link" that explains the current buying.

    Cheers to all.
