I am out of my depth when it comes to porphry au/cu deposits. The low grades that are apparently feasibile to mine in this type of deposit amaze me.

Cadia Hill in NSW with 0.25% cu and 0.45gt au which by my rough calculation gives an in ground value of approximately $42.50 per ton of ore combined (allowing $8.00 per kg cu and $50.00 per gm au)is a good example.
Volume is obviously the answer but mining and processing costs must take a big bite out of this. However I suppose a 200t truckload with a value on board of $850 per trip multiplied by 17 trucks X trips per day 24/7 would add up.
Cadia has a ore to waste ratio of 20 mtpa ore to 25 mtpa waste.

Which brings me to a few points and questions in regard to Andewa. Early days yet of course,but for the purpose of finding a measure or setting one's self a target for Andewa,if we assume hole ADH002 is representative of all of Andewa,which it won't be,and there is a good volume available,which is likely and that we mine at the ratio of 114 tons of ore to 154 tons of waste(Table 1 announcement 28/10/2011) at a grading of 74gpt au and 0.20%pt cu (same announcement table 1)how
feasible will it be? Using the same calculation as in Cadia's case Andewa would have an in ground value of $53 per ton of ore.(0.20%cu $16, 0.74gpt au $37).

Cadia has a big advantage in regard to location and
infrastructure which will be a fair negative for Andewa,but
Andewa has a top geographical position close to the coast and transport of ore is all downhill which will offer them a few choices in that regard all of which should represent cost savings bearing in mind also the abundancy of water.I can imagine a mill and gravity circuit at the mine site and a slurry pipeline to the coast for cu and fines recovery,just one of a few options.
