Fact: Japan was the aggressor and it was coming for Australia. In fact they bombed the shit out of Darwin. Got into Sydney harbour in a sub. So in your mind Australia should have done absolutely nothing because it wasnt' going to be invaded? Get real.
I don't know what your point is really. China is being aggressive but that doesn't mean the US hasn't been. The question is not who is behaving in an ideal way (nobody), it's who is the lesser? China may believe they're justified. US believes they're justified. But I'd rather live in the manifestly imperfect world of the Americans, and have the freedom to complain about it, than live in the other.
