I personally use CMCMarkets and IGMarkets, they are Market Makers which have their own pitfalls, but I find generally technically the price they offer is good enough to trade on.

IGMarkets have most commonly traded forex pairs in AUD equivalents, as well as the appropriate currencies for the pairs.

I have no experience of any other platforms...

A bit of a historical search of the FOREX threads will give you a few ideas, the questions you ask come up regularly here.
