0600 GMT [Dow Jones] London's FTSE 100 is expected to start Friday 25 points higher at 5390, says ETX Capital. This comes after US markets manage to pare losses into Thursday's close, and thus London's main index is expected to recover from Thursday's dip. The main attraction of the session is undoubtedly the US nonfarm payrolls and the unemployment rate, expected at 1230 GMT. There is some trepidation ahead of this, and the index is expected to trade within a tight range until this release. UK industrial production is at 0830 GMT, along with July PPI data. Earnings news from Royal Bank of Scotland is eagerly awaited.
