The saving grace was going to be private payrolls being higher than expected, as the census hiring always throws out the total figure.
However both were much lower than expected. This is not good data for the US economy and USD.
Of course whether that means stocks up or down - no idea. The old "stocks up, USD down" correlation (and vice versa) is not as robust as it once was.
