Australia will spend up to $368 billion over the next 30 years to deliver the historic AUKUS deal, which will culminate in homemade nuclear submarines by the 2040s.
The deal has been finalised: the program will feature at least three submarines to be purchased from the US, upgrades to extend the life of the existing fleet, with at least five UK-designed vessels with US-technology to be built in Adelaide by the 2040s.
Why bother upgrading the collins class, surely new is better for $368 billion and 17 years to build 5 subs? Technology will make these obsolete before they have even started building them lol
