this is where the current mob have done a great bit of work. the Pacific Islands are much more secure now, although there remains some legacy work for the Chinese.
see this is my preferred path to solving international solutions. we might decry diplomacy as a bit of a joke, but when its done right it can make all the difference in the world.
and it costs much less than even a diesel sub.
I'm sure the Chinese won't take Aus diplomatic deals joyfully, but they too have much to lose if they sever ties with Aus. one thing we've become since the election is stronger as a representative and advocate on the international stage. imo this is one enormous achievement after th damage done by the previous buffoons.
