Have you read the actual ban that was enacted in 2018? Or the Environmental code, Minerals Act, Radiation Protection Act, Act on Nuclear activities, Ordinance on Nuclear Activities etc?

There are exceptions to the ban and separately there are instanced in which the veto does not apply, but I cannot see where one can apply to mine and sell uranium and not have that mining permit application vetoed at the municipal level and rejected. There is at least 1 legally untested possibility that might allow them to mine U and have the veto not apply, that is section 11 of the Ordinance (1984:14) on Nuclear activities, ie, the 200 grams per tonne exception which makes it such that you do not need a permit to acquire, possess, transfer, handle, process etc. U under 200 ppm. But once it is enriched above that, you almost certainly need a permit, and if you need a permit, the veto applies. The word ''process'' here does need legal clarification though. But that law has been on the books for years and won't change, so no reason to wait if that was the issue.

So again, even if U mining is legal the veto will still apply, so they can't include U in their mining application, which begs the question, what are they waiting for.

Maybe they know more than what the politicians have let on publicly and the veto will be contested this fall but that is very unlikely, typically future propositions are made public during their legal review stage, but either way, time is running out and if they are waiting just the U mining ban to be lifted that doesn't make sense. They can't apply to mine it anyway. So you should all be asking, what are they waiting for and why?
