As to claim of territorial waters, that is really subjective

Chinese coast guard sailors brandished knives, an axe and other weapons in a clash with Philippine naval vessels near a strategic reef in the South China Sea, dramatic new footage released by Manila showed.

The clash took place Monday as Philippine forces attempted to resupply marines stationed on a derelict warship that was deliberately grounded atop the disputed Second Thomas Shoal in 1999 to assert Manila's territorial claims.

So they grounded a derelict warship on a rock and then claimed its their territorial waters???

That is a long stretch.

Btw, all of these so-called territorial waters are also claimed by Taiwan (ROC), and they have territorial disputes with the Philippines all the time - sometimes it lead to fighting and deaths.

But you won't hear or read about these disputes, other than in Taiwan (refer to below).

When it comes to China, even when not a single person died, its over-drive hype.

But when it comes to Taiwan, its cricket.

The simple fact is, this area is claimed by many countries and all of them have territorial disputes with each other. But you won't hear or read about it (except in those countries), unless its about the Communist China.

Note, you won't even hear about it even when its Communist Vietnam.

TAIPEI, TAIWANTAIPEI, Taiwan — The shooting death of a Taiwanese fisherman by the Philippine coast guard has become the latest incident to roil tensions over territorial disputes in and around the South China Sea, with Taipei calling Friday for Manila to apologize for the shooting.

Taiwan said that the Philippine Coast Guard opened fire Thursday on a 65-year-old fisherman in waters claimed by both governments. The Philippines acknowledged the Taiwanese claim, but said its personnel were acting in self-defense.
