Hideandreason: that is the biggest load of misinformation I've seen in a long time.
What is this "126 olympic swimming pools-worth of solid waste"? Isn't the solid residue going to be converted into gypsum and roadbase? So it's not waste, and it won't be "dumped" anywhere - it will be sold.
And thorium is not a "by-product" of this waste. There are extremely low levels of thorium IN the residue, and the level of radioactivity is lower than that of the bitumen on the road outside the plant. Thorium has a half life of billions of years - and if you know anything about radioactive decay, then you should know that the longer the half life, the lower the radioactivity. The residue from the LAMP will have a radiation level lower than that of the background radiation from the surrounding terrain.
And it is very sneaky to put a statement about "located near coastal tourist resorts and fishery" etc in juxtaposition to the misinformation about the residue - implying that one will contaminate the other. Not so.
And finally, the LAMP is in an industrial park at Gebeng, along with many other petrochemical plants that are already operating - in fact many of them are where the LAMP will be getting the reagents from - including the acid. 30Km is actually a fair distance, and it's a bit like the Pinkenba industrial area here in Brisbane, at the mouth of the Brisbane River, and next to the airport, complete with oil refineries, chemical plants, heavy industry, etc etc.
Sounds like you have either fallen for the SMSL propaganda, or you are deliberately trying to justify their idiotic delaying tactics.
