I do get that people want kids off the street. but to make children, who got out for whatever reason that makes their homelife unbearable, into prisoners is simply perpetuating the penalties their parents suffered and so creating the same conditions for these children to fail.
as with all such cycles of generational trauma, it gets worse with each generation.
