RE: BHP's cost of diesel.
According to Wikipedia the combined Australian tax (GST + Duty) on
diesel based on current prices is:-
Ultra low Sulphur Diesel = $0.7188
Standard Diesel. = $0.60143
BHP as a miner and exporter gets this combined tax refunded
so, to answer your question BHP pays $1.50 litre minus $0.60
which is about $0.90/litre.
Being a crude oil producer and depending on location, BHP may manage a discount on this.

PS: Just think of the Government take the next time you fuel-up
The combined tax on unleaded petrol is &0.7188/litre so your average
50 litre fill up is donating $35.90 to the government
