IMO we (Australia) & not Multinationals, should make hay while the sun shines whether that be in Iron Ore, Coal etc.

That said however China knows that the Commonwealth Government is over an American Barrel if it interferes with
trade in such a way that negatively impacts on US investors.

The US has a law which in summary permits US investors to sue foreign Governments who enact legislation
or regulations that negatively impact overseas investments.

For example US investors own 75% of BHP (a total of 92% is foreign owned) and 65% of Rio (a total of 88% of Rio
    is foreign owned)

Even China has not that much grip on us. Just have a further look at US ownership of "our" other big businesses.

That said, IMO, we should use the threat of withholding Iron Ore from China to force China back to the Trade negotiating table
just as Trump used China's access to US consumer markets as a lever .

But rather than sling shit publicly at China ( we know what China is) we should make as much money for The Commonwealth
as possible from China Trade in the shorter term while developing downstream processing of our Raw exports so that we can
go around (not through) China to global markets with superior manufactured steel & aluminium products etc.

We dont get mad, just plan & get even eh:
So far we've been displaying weakness to China; not strength.
Had we retained the MRRT 9 Abbott canned it in 2013) and invested that in mega/optimum automated steel smelters & mills we could have two already up and going with an aluminium one in prospect but of course our two top Billionaires scotched that (via the Minerals Council of Australia) and benefited as evidenced by their respective wealth increase over the past 8 years.
