Hi TraderReg, that statistic is correct. It was quoted in a ClimateSpectator article. I can't find the link now, but when there is enormous demand for electricity on the HOTTEST summer days when everyone is using air-conditioners at the same time (Residential, Industrial & Commercial), WHOLESALE Electricity prices go through the roof (with even idle stand-by Natural Gas turbine power stations coming online to meet the demand).

Origin Energy makes approx. 20% of it's total revenues from just a handful of summer days when PEAK DEMAND is through the roof.

These Energy Utilities have no commercial interest in Energy Efficiency. They make more profits from a Centralised system that's inefficient.

Europe NEEDS to increase it's Energy Efficiency for Energy Security reasons. They're already too reliant upon Russian natural gas.
