Hi Carbonblack
If we would be talking about the billion barrel unconventional oil fields, I would say; that's what NSE is trying to explore atm.
If you are not talking about the small Ungani like oil fields, but asking for billion barrels of conventional oil fields (traps), it is not possible to answer that with the information in hand about the Kidson sub-basin. We need to drill a lot to find out the answer.
We can say that the billion barrel oil traps can not be found in Fitzroy Trough or Greogory Trough. But it could be in Kidson sub-basin under the salt layers somehwere. It would need a lot of work (time and drilling) and very costly to find them.
They could be structural traps (Anticline, Fault and salt domes) in the Kidosn Basin. Especially salt domes are very important for oil production. And I think there undiscovered salt dome oil traps in Kidson sub-basin. There are many of of them in Texas which a lot of oil is produced from. These are not billion barrel oil traps though.
