In case anyone hasn't noticed, that dear old Aussie battler has now breached 72 cents this evening - now at 72.17.
I cannot help but become more uncomfortable with the valuations of RIO and BHP at these levels as the Aussie keeps rising and offsetting any commodity price gains. They are trading at 40+ times earnings on the basis of these commodity price rises but both run a completely unhedged currency book. At what level does the Aussie start to hurt the valuations - I would have thought we are awfully close at the moment.
Any other thoughts??
