I got a mate to buy me some rum when he was in London. Out here $130 a bottle, over there $70 when converted from pounds. Got two bottles for almost the price of one and they were bought retail in London, not duty free.
Some online vendors ship alcohol internationally but the only problem is that if you buy alcohol online from overseas it will attract Wine Equalization Tax, customs duties and GST when it arrives here which pretty much cancels any savings made. From what I remember, they also include the cost of shipping in determining the amount of duties and taxes and then add the GST last so in effect your paying GST on the WET and customs duties in addition to the goods.
