Another big fall of rain for northern NSW. 30 to 60 mills over the grain growing areas. Just in time for grain fill in the northern parts and flowering a bit further south. This should definately see at least an average crop, but some areas will see a big yield.
My wheats looking as good as it ever has. I've had average rainfall, that's been well spaced and started with a full soil water profile. It really hasn't ever had a check, and as long as there is no late frost or other disaster hit it, paddock fertility will be the limiting factor. So I'm hoping for 6 tonnes per hectare. Thats an improvement on last year when my crop was waterlogged from start to finish, then got 10 inches on it when ripe and was one of the worst, sickest crops I'd ever grown.
Looks like the rain event only just snuck into the far south of QLD.
Cheers.
